The enemies of orthodoxy part 2 ¾ (very poorly done)
B: So, what's up?
A: oh, nothing... just discouraged.
B: why so?
A: Im frustrated at mainstream culture. It appears that I am an enemy.
B:how so?
A: you see, we live in a culture driven by main-stream media. flooded with images and messages that degrade our very existence. there is a hidden and outward message that "if it feels good, do it", to the point of "if it feels good, and you like to do it, then no one can tell you or even believe otherwise"
what our culture preaches as acceptable and normal has created a backlash, in which morality has become a sort of "boogie man", which should be avoided at all costs.
B: oh. well... hey! its my beeper, just a sec. yeah, I got to take this. later.
-----------one week later
B: I thought about what you said
A: oh?
B: yeah. I dont think morality is really a "boogie man", and I dont think people really dislike it as much as you think.
It's just that a strong sense of morality would force us to by completely new wardrobes.
A: fair enough. |
